Floyd Co. got some revenge against Pulaski Co. as they went into the Cougar Den and came away with a 70-64. The two teams had faced each other a couple of weeks ago with the Cougars winning at Floyd 53-51.
Floyd got 19 points from Ryan Swortzel, 15 from Dylan Bond, and 12 from Josiah Banks. Floyd took an opening 13-6 first-quarter lead and never relinquish it. They were up 28-21 advantage into intermission and took a 48-44 lead into the last quarter.
Pulaski Co. got 18 points from freshman Lane Nester. J J Gulley and Peyton McDaniel both chipped in with 11 points apiece. ” We didn’t defend the post and we missed way too many layups,” said a dejected Cougar head coach Tyler Cannoy.
The Cougars have now lost three in a row and will travel to Bluefield Thursday to take on undefeated Graham.
