The Cougar held Radford to just eight points in the third quarter but they could only score seven in the quarter. Pulaski Co. (2-5) have now lost three straight and are averaging just 49 points per game and surrendering around 60 points per game.

Cougars lose to Bruins

Pulaski Co. hit the road as they traveled to Blacksburg and came out on the short end of a 74-62 loss to the Bruins. The game featured 51 fouls, 62 foul shots, and six technicals. The game in the game half became very physical, rough and a lot of jawing. The officials at times seemed to not help matters as the game almost got out of hand.

Leading 33-27 at intermission the Bruins started the third quarter off with a 10-0 run and outscored the Cougars 15-2 in the first four minutes of the quarter.

Pulaski Co. ( 2-4, 0-4) would cut the margin to 12 three times but couldn’t get it any closer than that. ” We got a lot of effort and fight tonight, said Cougar head coach Andrew Hart. We committed 27 turnovers and you not going to win playing like that. We have some guys that stepped up but we played the game short-handed and then we got into foul trouble.”

The Cougar got 25 points from Dillon Porter. Benjamin Poe and Justin Roberson both tallied nine points each. The Bruins got a game-high 26 points from Cole Epperley. Drew Babcock tossed in 13 and Grant Johnston finished with 11.

Pulaski Co. didn’t make the big play or get the big shot the last four minutes as they lost their home game 43-40 to Hidden Valley Titans. Hidden Valley got 11 points from Andrew Duncan and 10 from Grayson Carroll in the win.

The Cougars (2-3) was led by senior Benjamin Poe with 10 points and Dillon Porter had nine. Poe scored eight of his points in the second half and Porter knocked in all of his in the second half. Tied at 37 the Cougars turned the ball over three straight possessions and finally, Carroll hit an one and one to put the Titans up 43-40. The Cougars didn’t get a good shot off at the end of the game as the buzzer sounded. The Titans had taken a close one from the Cougars in the Cougar Den.

” We didn’t make plays late in the game and turned the ball over down the stretch,” said Cougar head coach Andrew Hart. ” We dug ourselves into a hole there in the second quarter, nine turnovers and scored just six points.”

The Cougar JV( 3-2) pounded the Titans 52-28 as Ethan Gallimore lead them in scoring, with 13. The Cougars will travel to Blacksburg Thursday to take on the Bruins. JV starts at 5:30 and varsity at 7:00 pm.

Cougars rally in fourth quarter

The Pulaski Co. Cougars went on a 15-3 run the last 5:25 of the game to pull out a 58-47 win over the Carroll Co. Cavaliers. The Cougars trailed at the end of the first quarter, at intermission and at the end of the third quarter.

The Cougars(2-2) got 23 points from Dillon Porter and 11 from senior Justin Roberson. They accounted for 12 of the Cougars last 15 points. The game turned after a technical foul was called on the Cavalier bench with just over five minutes remaining. Roberson calmly stepped up and hit both free throws. Then A J McCloud hit a running five-footer, Porter hit a short jumper and Roberson would stroke three from deep in the corner to put the Cougars up 52-44 in less than 45 seconds.

” We started a little sluggish tonight, ” said Cougar head coach Andrew Hart. ” We got beat very badly the night before and it was nice to see the ball go in the hole. Hopefully, some of the guys will get some confidence from this win. We played harder and better tonight.”
