Oak Hill Academy loses scrimmage
Floyd– The Oak Hill Academy Warriors and Massanutten Military Academy Colonels traveled to Floyd Co. High School for a pre-season basketball scrimmage. The scrimmage helped raise money for the Chance Harman Foundation. In somewhat of a mild surprise Massanutten won the scrimmage 82-72.
Massanutten was led by Penn St. commit Rasir Bolton who scored 19 points. The 6’3″ guard who is very quick hit six field goals for the winners. He got help from Rhode Island commit Tyrese Martin with 15, Two other players 6’7″Mekhi Long and 6’10” Mahamadou Diawara also tossed in 15 points each. Miles James contributed 11 points.
Oak Hill got 19 points from 6’6″ forward Keldon Johnson . Keyontae Johnson a 6’7″ forward had 16. Kansas bound center 6’10” David McCormack and guard 6’4″ Will Richardson both chipped in with 12 points apiece.Virginia Tech commit 6’8″ B J Mack scored four points coming off the bench.

Pioneers to entertain G-men
The Fort Chiswell Pioneers will host the Graham G-men this Friday night at C.F. McKinney Stadium. The Pioneers come into the game 6-2, while Graham is 7-1. Fort Chiswell is averaging 28 points a game and allowing 18 a game. Graham is scoring at 37 per game and giving up only 11 a game. Graham is under the direction of Tony Palmer. The main weapons on offense are Taymon Cooke , Cam Allen , Ty Gray , Devin Lester and Jazaire Reed. On defense their line is anchored by seniors Eric Workman and Ajai Oakes. Dante Vineyard is a Division 1 recruit and Mike Mason are the mainstay linebackers. The secondary is manned by Cooke, Allen and Reed. The G-men have won seven straight with their only loss coming to arch rival Bluefield Beavers 17-14 in the opening game of the season. They have wins over Central-Wise, Lebanon, Virginia High, Tazewell, Princeton(WV). They also have beaten Giles and Richlands both in overtime. Fort Chiswell head coach Todd Tiller remarked,” Graham is as quick , athletic and fast as any team we have faced all season. Cooke and Allen are very athletic combo. They are as fast on offense as well as defense.” Coach then said, “On offense they like to run the spread but run as much as they throw.On defense they run 44 and 34 schemes. They like to blitz linebackers and multiple guys at different times.” Coach then added,” Their special teams are that. Both of the kick-off and punt returns are extremely dangerous.” Kick-off for the game is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Fort Chiswell High School .
Bobcats lose in Overtime
The Radford Bobcats traveled to Buchanan and lost in overtime to James River 21-18. It is the Cats seventh lost all either happening in the fourth quarter or in this case overtime.
Tied at 15 at the end of regulation the Bobcats got the ball first in overtime and got a 24 yard field goal from Conner Lytton to go up 18-15. James River 3-5 and 1-3 in Three Rivers District then won the game on a 12 yard run from quarterback Colter Hodges.Hodges passed for 146 yards, threw one touchdown. He also rushed for 92 yards , scored twice as he carried the ball 21 times. He was an all purpose player and all but single handed won thw game.
Radford 1-7 overall and 1-3 in Three Rivers District got a 66 yard run for six from Chris Carter and Trace Shepherd got a 55 yard pass from freshamn quarterback Zane Rupe for their two scores. Radford will be back in action Friday as they host the Cavaliers of Carroll Co. Kick off is 7:00 pm at Bobcat Stadium.
